The main thing I love about web design

When I first got into the whole web design/development thing, the one thing that blew my mind was how much could be created from a few lines of code. Sure, those few lines of code grow and grow into hundreds of lines of code but the things that can be done with HTML/CSS and maybe a little bit of JavaScript is incredible to me. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ll call my wife over and show her the code to a great design and then proceed to talk at length about what could’ve been done differently and why the designer probably chose to do it the way they did but I might as well have been talking Mandarin.

When I was a cybersecurity major and we covered a little HTML/CSS I found that I would go home after class and sit and play with the code, Googling examples to see just what I could do and it was really then that I realized that I found something I could do as a career and also enjoy at the same time. It only took me 28 years, but I’d figured it out!

webdesigndev.com recently ran an article listing 20 website designs that show some great examples of the endless┬ávariety of layouts that lay at the fingertips of every web designer. Maybe it’s because I’m still relatively new to this world but seeing things like this just inspire me.
